As we acknowledge Oral Health Month, here are some tips to ensure you stay smiling.
Brush it off
Use a toothbrush with soft bristles to prevent brushing too hard. Make sure you brush twice a day, for two minutes each time.
Don’t forget to floss
Flossing is not as popular as brushing, but it still serves a purpose. Dental floss can get into those hard-to-reach areas that brushing may not. Floss at least once a day.
As with your overall health, what you eat is important. Strive to minimise the number of sugary foods and fizzy or acidic drinks that you consume. Try to replace those foods with fruits, vegetables, grains, chicken, fish and lots of water.
Mouthwash is great for reducing the amount of acid in the mouth and it can also reach where a toothbrush cannot.
Visit your dentist at least twice a year
There are just certain things that only a professional can do, such as professional teeth cleanings, check-ups, looking for cavities etc. For this and more, you need to see a dentist at least twice a year.
